Our Mission
CISE (Catholic Inter-City Schools Education) works to Rewrite Futures of urban children by providing access to a faith-based Catholic education at inner-city elementary schools and Catholic high schools. Strong values are taught in a safe, nurturing, and welcoming environment.
What We Do It
Supporting ten inner-city schools in Cincinnati’s poorest neighborhoods, CISE helps give over 2,600 students (PK-12th grade) an environment where they can learn, grow, thrive and succeed. Our Catholic schools serve students with the single mission to educate children out of poverty and into better lives. It’s a mission that changes courses, transforms lives, unlocks possibilities, and rewrites futures, one deserving and determined child at a time.
CISE helps schools deliver three key pillars which are vital to changing the cycle of poverty – Excellence in Education, Safe Nurturing and Welcoming Environment, and Values for Life.
Excellent in Education
Over 2,600 students each year receive a quality Catholic school education thanks to our generous donors. CISE provides a comprehensive educational pipeline from preschool through high school to help students achieve better outcomes in life.
- There are 14 quality preschool classrooms in the CISE Schools
- 10 Catholic grade schools
- In the 2022-23 school year there were 406 CISE grade school graduates attending 13 local Catholic high schools with support from CISE.
- Many CISE students are the first in their family to attend college.
Safe, Nurturing & Welcoming Environment
Our Catholic schools serve and welcome students of all beliefs and backgrounds. Each of our ten schools provides physical, mental, and behavioral health support, as well as a comprehensive range of student services.
Values for Life
CISE schools focus on forming the whole student by teaching skills for success in learning and throughout life. Faith-based values, leadership, teamwork, self-control, and resilience skills are taught and modeled daily.
